Gum Disease Treatment in Muskegon: Detect and Treat It Early
We offer comprehensive periodontal (gum) disease evaluation, treatment, and preventative care for gum disease symptoms. Dr. Leatha Wood of Muskegon can explain the effects of gum disease on your mouth and body and provide you with a number of treatment options.
Have you noticed loose teeth, bad breath, bleeding gums, or large open or closed spaces between your teeth and gum line (commonly referred to as "pockets")? Did you know that, if left untreated, gum disease such as gingivitis can lead to bone loss or decay in your mouth or even a heart attack from the potentially invasive bacterial infection that characterizes gum disease? As one of Muskegon's most highly-regarded dentists, Dr. Wood has the experience to offer the most effective periodontal gum disease treatment options.
Dr. Wood may suggest surgical treatment to regenerate bone that has decayed or to close pockets and make them free of gum disease infection. Or she may be able to help you with non-surgical treatment options such as scaling and root planing, which is a deep cleaning of pockets to avoid a deep gum disease infection. Either way, regular appointments are recommended even after the first treatment and can help you avoid reoccurrence or new gum disease infection.
There's no such thing as gum disease that can be ignored. Even if it's not painful in the beginning, the greater concern is the long-term effect that gum disease can have on your mouth and body. That's why Dr. Leatha Wood and hers caring attitude and years of experience can literally save your beautiful smile - and perhaps even your life! So call Grand Haven Dental Care or complete the online form to make a gum disease treatment appointment!
Why should everyone in Muskegon be concerned about early treatment and prevention of gum disease such as gingivitis? Although early symptoms such as bad breath and bleeding gums may seem mild, infected gums can lead to bone loss in the jaw or even heart attacks.
